Luckiest Baby Ever!

Wow, this baby has to be the luckiest on Earth. A six month old baby took a tumble off a train platform just as the train was pulling into the station. The baby and carriage were dragged about 30 feet down the tracks and the baby survived! You have to take a look at the video. It is painful to watch knowing that it is real but just remember that the baby is ok.

Train runs over baby.

Host a Windows 7 House Party!

Feel like hosting the ultimate nerd party??? Then go ahead and sign up for your chance to host a Windows 7 launch party. I signed up and it appears that you need at least 10 friends to qualify. What is Microsoft thinking? A person that wants to throw a Windows 7 launch party most likely does not have 10 friends. Oh well, I guess if I am picked I will have to trick some folks into coming over and then surprise them while I teach them the all the benefits of Windows 7!

XBOX Elite for $299 at Walmart

Well, as expected, Microsoft looks to have lowered their XBOX 360 Elite package to the $299 price point. Check out the link to read Engadget's article on an upcoming Walmart add. I am a HUGE 360 fan so I do like to see the price drop but to be honest after the 299 PS3 Slim package the Elite is looking a bit overpriced still. The Elite lacks the Blu-ray player and it will cost you another 50 bucks to play online. The Live experience may be superior but there is a lot to love with the PS3 Slim. Dare I say I may even be picking one up?

iPhone - Castle Wolfenstein

EA recently released Castle Wolfenstein RPG for the iPhone. It is a turn based action/RPG. The game is absolutely a blast to play. The graphics are fantastic with crisp, coloful textures and a ton of great details. It is currently priced at $4.99 which is an absolute steal for the quality of game you are getting. I highly recommend this game to anyone who is even mildly interested in action/RPG games. You will not regret the purchase!

XBOX 360 Live Beta update is now available

For those of us that signed up for the beta of the new XBOX 360 Live preview the update is now available. The most anticipated feature, at least by me, is the new Netflix update which will allow users do do a whole lot more with their subscription including watching movies together over Live.

I will post my thoughts later tonight. Stay tuned!

Bing it at Bing.com!!

That's right! I said Bing it, not Google it. Why would I say such a thing you ask? Well, the answer is simple my friends, Microsoft released their new search engine Bing on June 1st and it is AWESOME! As many of you already know I am a pretty big fan of Microsoft products, especially as of late with Office 2007, Windows 7 and now Bing which have all surpassed my expectations. What I want to ask you all here is to give Bing.com a chance. What do you have to lose? In the end you may just find out what I already know, Bing is the bomb.

Xbox 360- Tiger Woods 10 Demo

I finally got around to downloading the demo on Live last night and after playing for about an hour I came away very impressed. I know EA is evil and they put out the same games each year with minor improvements just to get another 60 bucks from us. My friend, let's call him Stan, will not even look at another Tiger Woods game. For me, this is one franchise that I do not mind supporting year after year.

The demo only has 4 courses. Two from Bethpage Black and two from Turnberry. Right from the first fly over I can see an improvement in the graphics. Everything just looks so much more real this year. A whole new lighting scheme adds to the graphics and there are times when this looks almost like a real golf broadcast. This year EA also included weather in the game so there are times when you will be playing in the rain. There are some nice effects when it is raining too. The ball will create little splashes when it hits the fairway just like in real life. The rain also drastically changes putting. When it is raining hard you really need to put a lot of extra power into your putt. The ball also creates a trail of water as it rolls to the hole which looks great.

I am going to play some more this weekend and will add more information to this post if I find other stuff worth mentioning. I can say for a fact that this is a must buy for anyone who loves golf.

Dangers in the workplace

Wow, this is great. An AT&T employee was cleaning out a refrigerator with old moldy food in it and it sickened 28 people!! We have a nasty refrigerator where I work and I am just waiting for the day that it send us all to the hospital!! When you have a hundred people storing their nasty leftovers in the same place it is only a matter if time before this will happen.

New Sony PSP?????

There have been a ton of rumors about Sony prepping a new PSP and here is yet another one. There are some interesting things in this article that makes me believe the information may be a bit more concrete.

I really like the look of this if it is indeed going to look like this. I cannot believe they still are not going to give us a second analog stick! If this thing had 2 analog stick it would be perfect for 1st and 3rd persons shooters. With just the one I always found it awkward to play those types of games.

As many of you know I recently sold my PSP. Maybe I got out at the right time. Now I can get the new and cooler version later this year.

Time Warner drops plan to cap internet use.

Time Warner has decided against its plans to cap their customers internet usage. This is great news for anyone who ever goes online. I do not think other internet companies can be successfull in light of Time Warner's failure. I use Comcast and have a 250 GB cap which is reasonable but should be eliminated. Maybe this will spur Comcast to drop their cap as well. Personally, I use a lot of bandwidth a month and all for LEGAL reasons. I have my Netflix subscription and I also subscribe to MLB.tv so I stream a huge amount of data every day. Let us just hope that this will be the last we here of usage caps.

Is the Zune HD real?

There have been a ton of stories on the rumored Zune HD. No one knows if it is real or fake and Microsoft is not saying a word. If this thing is real and it does what the rumors are saying it does this could easily be the best player out there. Microsoft is due for a really good piece of hardware and this could be it. Now they just need to fix the Zune marketplace because that thing is a mess!

iPhone - Star Trek Countdown

As most of you probably already know there is a new Star Trek movie coming out this summer. It takes place before the original Star Trek series and we get to see how all of the main characters became who they are. From what I have seen so far it does look like it may be good.

So I was looking through the app store on my iPhone and came across a Star Trek Countdown application. At first I thought it was just going to be some dumb counter telling me how many days I have to wait to see the movie. To my surprise it was actually a comic book series that is a prequel to the new movie! For .99 cents I thought it would be worth it to check out.

The comic book has 91 pages so there is a good deal to read here. The illustrations are great and I am really enjoying the story. I think only fans of the Star Trek universe will be interested in the story so if Star Trek is not your thing then there is nothing really to see here. You have three options as to how you move through the "pages". You can set them to slide, fade or flip. I personally find the fade effect the most pleasing. There are 4 episodes so far and each costs a buck so if you get hooked you will need to spend several dollars to read everything. I have only checked out the first one but I will be downloading the rest as I think it is worth it.

Happy Easter - The Masters - iPhone

For my readers who celebrate Easter I hope you all have a very happy day! For those that do not celebrate Easter I hope you have a great Sunday.

Anyone going to watch the Masters? I am heading out to my girlfriends house where I hope to catch some of the action but I know golf is not for everyone so I will not bore them too much. This will also provide me an opportunity to check out The Masters iPhone application. For those golf fans out there that own an iPhone you can download the app for free from the App Store. I played with it a bit at work on Thursday and Friday but I did not have a good 3G signal so the quality of the stream suffered. You can watch live action from 5 different holes on the course. They also have a leader board so even if you do not want to stream you can take a quick peak as to who is winning!

Enjoy!

Just a reminder that soon I will only be posting on the Morrotech blog so if you want to continue to follow me click here and sign up. Thanks!

Asus 1000HE Review

I have been using my new Asus 1000HE for about a week now and I can say without a doubt that this netbook is a winner. Everything about this machine is fantastic. It looks great, performs better than expected and has the perfect price point at just under 400 dollars.

The netbook market is very crowded. Just about every manufacturer is now making netbooks including the big boys like Dell and HP. Asus was a pioneer in this market segment and their experience has definitely paid off with the 1000HE.

The first thing you will notice is that the 1000HE is a great looking netbook. The high gloss black finish on the outside makes this machine look like a million bucks. The chasis feels very solid and there is no flex in the keyboard. Everything here is made very well. It does weigh more than most netbooks at 3.2 pounds but that includes the 6 cell battery so it is acceptable.

The 1000HE uses the new Atom 1.66 GHz (667MHz FSB) processor which is a incremental improvement over the standard Atom 1.6 GHz. Honestly, I couldn't see a difference. The 1000HE does perform very well though. Asus preloads the 1000HE with Star Office which runs very well. I also installed Word and Excel 2007 and the 10000HE handled them just fine.

I mainly use the 1000HE for internet access while commuting. I have an hour long train ride each way to work so having the ability to go online is really nice. The 10 inch screen is the sweet spot for netbooks and the 1000HE's does not disappoint. The matte black screen looks great and is easily viewable in direct sunlight.

The 1000HE also comes standard with a 160GB hard drive, 1.3 megapixel web cam, Built-in 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth for easy wireless connectivity. It also has 3 x USB 2.0 ports, 1 x VGA port, 2 x Audio input/output ports, 1 x RJ-45 port, Kensington Lock port. The new chiclet-style keyboard is 92% the size of regular notebooks keyboard which makes it very comfortable to type on.

The battery life on this netbook is phenomenal. Asus claims that it gets 9 hours per charge but a more realistic number is about 7.5 hours. That is a long time between charges and plenty to get through an entire day while mobile.

The touch pad supports multi touch. You can do all sorts of neat things just by using the pad. For example, you can zoom in and out of pictures by pinching your fingers together. I am not a big fan though as you can sometimes trigger the wrong command by accident which is frustrating. Luckily, the options are configurable so you can shut off certain commands while leaving the ones you want to use on.

If you are in the market for a netbook then definitely give the Asus 1000HE a look, you will not be disappointed.

Paypal Phish Alert

If you are a Paypal user then you most likely have at some point received emails claiming that your access has been cut off or your account needs to be verified again. They include a nice little "convenient" link that you are supposed to click on and enter in your log in information. While the emails are usually pretty convincing one telltale sign that it is a phish attempt is that they do not use your name or only use your first name.

Well, today I received one of those emails from Paypal but this time they used my entire FULL legal name which I rarely ever use. I NEVER click links in any emails so I went to my Paypal account by typing in Paypal's URL. I logged in and to my surprise my account was just fine! I am not entirely sure how they got my information but I recently received payment from an ebay user through paypal. I will investigate when I get home and let you know if I figure out where this email came from.

Asus 1000HE

Well, I sold my Dell Mini 9 to a friend and bought myself a new Asus 1000HE netbook. I will post a full review soon but just wanted to quickly say how awesome this netbook is! I haven't found anything I do not like yet. If you are thinking about getting a netbook I can say without question that the 1000HE is the best of the bunch.

Call Hunter - find out who is calling you!

Ok, now this is a website that I really like. There is nothing I hate more than having a call come in from a number that I am not familiar with and does not include the callers name. I think to myself, have I missed a bill somewhere and someone is calling to collect? Is this a friends second line that I am not familiar with? I do not want to answer but my curiousity sometimes gets the best of me and I pick up only to find out that it is some telemarketer trying to sell me a subscription to something I have no interest in. This is where Call Hunter comes in.

Call Hunter lets you to plug in any number and do a little research before you pick up. It will tell you the location of the number and show information from real people who have had experience with the number in the past. The site is free to view as well as post your own experiences with particular phone numbers. You do not need to leave any personal information or even an email address. Just post a bit of information on who called and for what reason. It is a great way to help fight back against telemarketers and collection agencies!

I really like this service and it has already come in handy! So take a look and try it out for yourself!

Check out Call Hunter here!

MLB.TV is far from HD quality but....

Last night I checked out the Yankees vs Cubs using my new MLB.TV subscription and came away far from impressed. While it was completely watchable the quality of the picture was by no means "near HD". My Internet connection is fantastic. MLB.TV states that you need at least 768 kbps and according to their sites test of my internet connection I have 8352 kbps so there is no pipeline reason I should not be getting the near HD stream. It was just the first game and it is still preseason so perhaps they are still working out a few issues. There is another Yankee game on today at 1 so I will see how that one looks.

There are some really neat feature that MLB.TV provides that the Extra Innings package could never. First, as a premium subscriber you have access to your your DVR so you can pause the live broadcast or rewind to see a play again. Another great feature is the highlight button. While you are watching a game you click this button and it will list the best plays of the game up till that point. You click on which highlight you want to see and it opens a PIP window in the corner and plays the highlight. You also have access to a live box score that updates with the action. These little extras really add a lot to the experience of watching the game.

So far I would give MLB.TV 3 out 5 stars. It is a good alternative to the Extra Innings package and just about half the price. If they can work on stabilizing the stream and actually give me "near HD" then this service will get a 5 out 5 from me.

Pros:
Nice interface
Can watch up to 4 games at once
Highlight replay PIP is really cool
Tons a live game stats

Cons:
Picture quality - No where near HD and sometimes not even a solid SD picture. It is very watchable though for baseball fans. While this is really the only con for me it is a BIG one and prevents this service from stomping the Extra Innings package into the ground.

MLB.TV is a go!

Well, since Comcast has completely let me down once again by not offering their baseball package in HD I have decided to go with MLB.TV this year for my baseball fix. I tried them a few years back and was not pleased with the quality of the picture but from what I have been reading the service is much improved. They claim that they can offer a near HD picture so we will see. I will let you know my thoughts once I have watched some games.

Check out MLB.TV here!

No HD for Comcast's MLB Extra Innings

Today I received an email from Comcast comfirming my fear that the MLB Extra Innings package will still not be broadcast in HD. I know showing 80 games each week in HD would comsume a lot of bandwith but it is unacceptable that they cannot even show a couple of games each night in HD. So once again I am stuck out here in Boston not being able to watch my Yankees in HD. Maybe next year....

Dell's Mini 10 now with 720p screen

The Dell Mini 10 now has a 720p screen option! This should have been the ONLY option when they launched the Mini 10 but for some reason Dell launched with the lower res screen from the Mini 9. I am not sure I can recommend anyone buying the Mini 10 though. With the higher res screen, upgraded atom processor and bluetooth the Mini 10 goes for over 500 dollars! That is just too much for a netbook. You can get better netbooks out there with the same or more features for about 400 bucks.

Sony says no price cut on the PS3 tomorrow

According to the latest from Sony their big announcement set for tomorrow has nothing to do with a PS3 price drop. What is with these guys? Yeah, the system is selling ok but not as well as it should. They should knock off 50 or 100 bucks from the price. A price drop now could really spur some great sales. I may even buy one if they dropped the price by a hundred bucks!

Apple using jailbroken iphones?

Well this is certainly interesting. It looks as though Apple is using jailbroken iPhones when creating their schematics for new patents. These images are from their patent filing. Notice anything odd in the red circle? Yup, those are the Installer.app and SMBPrefs, both only available on a jailbroken iPhone.

Microsoft's new anti-apple commercial

Check out the video below. Microsoft has a new commercial that is actually really GOOD. Their past efforts have left much to be desired but I think this one is a winner. The star of the commercial seems very genuine which really makes this commercial work.

Will Windows 7 be the end for Linux on netbooks?

A Product Manager for Samsung recently stated that after Windows 7 is released that "it was now unlikely the company would make a Linux netbook".

I like Windows 7 A LOT. I have been beta testing it since January. I am not sure that when the final release comes that it will be as snappy as Linux is on a netbook. Plus, a netbook maker can shave 50-70 dollars off the price of a netbook by using Linux and in this economy every dollar counts.

Check out the full article on techradar.

Netflix coming to PS3?

Take a look at this screenshot. It appears that Netflix is at least thinking about it. This also could just be a manipulated screenshot. Hard to trust any news around April 1st.

If this is indeed true then Microsoft better rethink their 50 bucks a year for Live because spending $9.99 a year to watch Netflix is a much better deal.

iPhone - Undead Live

The folks that brought us Mafia Live have just released Undead Live! It is free until 3-29-09 and then it will go up to $4.99 so get to the app store and download it today! The game plays just like Mafia Live but this time you can choose between being a werewolf, vampire or overlord. The names of all the different sections are all different of course. You have Land Conquests, Underworld Market, Dark Lord and My Bloodline just to name a few. You will also participate in quests and rampages which is the Undead equivalent of missions and fights.

If you loved Mafia Live and have an interest in the underworld then this game is perfect for you. I cant recommend it enough. This is great stuff and just what I expected from a great developer like this.

Remeber to post what species you are when leaving people your family code as vampires can only add vampires, werewolfs can only add werewolfs and overlords can only add overlords.

I am a Vampire!! Add me to your bloodline: 305 664 314

Dell Adamo's battery not user replaceable

Well, this certainly is not good news. At least for those that were waiting to get one of Dell's new Adamo laptops. The information that I received today is that the battery is not user replaceable. This also means that you cannot carry a spare with you while on the go which makes no sense at all. This is not a good move Dell, not a good move at all.

XBOX - RROD!!!!

Well, it happened AGAIN! I went to turn on my xbox last night to watch a movie and was greeted with the nasty RED RING OF DEATH! This will be the THIRD time I am returning this xbox for repair. This is getting ridiculus Microsoft! Give me a NEW system instead of just fixing this old one because it is obvious that this one is FUBAR!

iPhone - Invaders from Outer Space

Check out the app store this morning as Invaders from Outer Space in now a free app! It normally goes for $1.99. Now this game is not going to blow you away but it is a solid title, especially for FREE! It is a take on the classic game of Space Invaders. The graphics are solid and include some truly beautiful backgrounds of space images captured by NASA and the Hubble telescope.

iPhone 3G outages in Boston??

I received a couple of emails from iPhone users stating that they are experiencing
3G outages in the Boston area. I too, am experiencing the same thing and I am currently in Boston. Send me an email if you are also experiencing 3G issues.

Dell Adamo

Dell's officially announced the first machine in what will be called the Adamo line. The 13.4-inch model has a 1.2GHz Core 2 Duo U9300 with integrated Intel X4500 graphics, 2GB of RAM, and a 128GB SSD, and weighs about 4 pounds.

Sorry Dell, but for $1,999 I expect A LOT more than this. Hopefully we will see a significant price drop or discounting for this line in the near future. In this economy Dell will have a hard time convincing people that this laptop is worth the asking price.

iPhone - Zombieville USA

Wow! Now this game is a perfect example of just how fun games can be on the iPhone. With its simple controls, solid side scrolling graphics and exceptional sound track this is most definitely my favorite iPhone game to date.

The zombie apocalypse, that we all know will eventually come, has struck your home town and you are the only one left. What do you do? Gun up and kill the bastards of course! That is all you do in this game and that is exactly what makes it such a perfect game for the iPhone.

The controls are very simple. There is an arrow on the bottom of each side of the screen which you press to move in that direction. To shoot you just tap your finger anywhere between those two arrows. To enter a safe house, where you collect money and ammo, you just tap your finger on the door.

The graphics are real nice. They have a great cartoon look to them and are very well drawn. The zombies heads explode into great gobs red goo and brain matter when you shoot them. The sound effects for the 15 weapons are great and they all feel very satisfying when used against the zombies.

I highly recommend that you go get this game right now. For a $1.99 it is a complete steal! If you do not want to take my word for how great this game is the developers have been kind enough to include a free demo on the app store as well. Check this game as out soon as you can! 5 out 5 stars!

Palm Pre Browser

Cruising the internet on the iPhone is a very pleasurable experience. The Safari browser is by far the best mobile browser I have ever used and I have used them all. Now it looks like Safari and iPhone may have some real competition! The Palm Pre browser looks to be a real winner and is reportedly 4x faster thamn Safari on the iPhone. Check out the link for more details.

Windows Mobile 6.5

I am not sure I am liking the looks of the new Windows Mobile 6.5. I am also not pleased that it cant run on current gen phones. Why is it that MS always has to make their software so bloated???? I am holding out hope that they pull this off. I miss my Windows Mobile 6.1 moto q9c and am looking forward to checking out the new hardware that 6.5 will run on,

iPhone - BlogPress

So I have had a bit of time to play around with BlogPress and for the most part I am pleased. You really can't go wrong for the 99 cent sale price. The app is normally quite a bit pricier. I think the most I would pay for this app is 2.99.

It does what it is intended to do. I did notice some sluggishnes when going from portrait to landscape. On two occasions the app froze and I had to exit and come back in which was very frustrating.

It does seem that the developers care about their product and they do plan on updates. If you are a blogger and are looking for a way to blog on the go using your iPhone then check this app out. At 99 cents you cannot go wrong!

iPhone - BlogPress

This morning I downloaded BlogPress from the app store. It is on sale for just .99 cents. I am writing this blog from my iPhone to see how well this works with blogger. The first thing that i immediately liked was the ability to write in landscape.

I will continue to check this out to see if I can recommend this app.

Dell Mini 10 Review

Laptopmag.com has reviewd Dell's new mini 10. Overall they seem to like it quite a bit. I have been using the Dell Mini 9 since it was released last year so I am glad to see some of the shortcommings on the 9 fixed on the 10. The biggest change, besides screen size, is the keyboard is now very close to a full size keyboard and appears to be a lot easier to type on.

The configurations are limited at this time but Dell has stated that in the near future customers will have more options.

Anyone want to buy my Mini 9? Send me an email is you are interested. I certainly am not getting rich from the ads on my site and I really want to get a Mini 10 so I can give a more personal review

Check out laptopmag.com's review here!.

iPhone Kindle - UR

I have been using the iPhone Kindle software over the past few days to read a novella entitled UR by Stephen King. The story was written specifically for the Kindle and is about the Kindle. This is Stephen King so of course there is something special about the Kindle in the story. I will not say anything else because I do not want to ruin it for anyone but it it is definitely worth the purchase at just $2.99.

Trade in your used games to Amazon!

On Thursday Amazon anounced a new program where customers can trade in used games for store credit. They currently have about 1500 titles that they will accept. What is really nice is that you can clearly see how much they are going to give you for you game so there are no suprises. You simply go thorugh the list and select the titles you want to trade in, go through the checkout process and print a prepaid mailing label. When Amazon receives the games it takes about 2 days for them to examine the titles and credit your account.

The program only gives you credit that can be used on Amazon's site so if you are looking for cash this is not the program for you. As stated earlier it also takes some time for the entire process to be completed so there is no instant gratification to be had. Amazon's trade in prices are a couple of dollars higher per game than what you would get at Gamestop. If you trade in games over the next two weeks you will also receive a coupon for 10 percent off your next game puchase which is nice.

Overall I like this program quite a bit. I am going to send some game in this week and I will let you know how it goes.

Is this the end for the Wii?

There is no doubt that Nintendo's Wii is the best selling next-gen console. Some claim that the Wii's incredible sales are irrelevant because the real players in the console war are Microsoft and Sony. Whatever your thoughts on the Wii's success are the fact is that Nintendo owns the casual gamer market and has made the next-gen war a race for second place.

The playing field has definitely changed now. The global recession is getting worse and more people are eliminating unnecessary items. Whether it be that 4 dollar latte or going out to dinner, people all across the globe are cutting back. The game industry so far has been immune to the recession. True hardcore gamers are dedicated individuals who will go to the end of the Earth to get their gaming fix. This is where the Wii will face its first major challenge. Will casual gamers continue to spend money on the Wii? I say no.

Let me know what you think?

Credit Cards

Two friends of mine recently received notice from their Capital One credit cards that their annual rate was increasing to 27 PERCENT!!! Both of them manage their money very well but each carries a balance. This sounds to me like they are just looking to cash in on customers carrying balances. The good thing is that you CAN opt out but you need to contact them to do so. Once you have opted out you must not use that credit card (cut it up!!!) again because if you do you are consenting to the new terms and your interest rate will skyrocket! I always hated Capital one and their stupid viking commercials. At least now I have a better reason to hate the credit card.

I would keep an eye out for these types of notices from other credit cards as well. Bank of America isn't doing so great and I can see them doing something like this too.

iPhone - Amazon Kindle Review

I downloaded Amazon's Kindle software for the iPhone this morning. I do not have an actual kindle so I was excited to now have access to all the great content that Kindle users have. As expected the application is a free download from the app store.

I am a bit disappointed with the software so far. Granted, this is version 1.0 and I am sure this app will be updated often to add additional features but I did expect a little more out of the gate. When you launch the app you are presented with a bare bones main menu with just a couple of available options. The app does not come with any sample books so if you are new to the Kindle experience you must download something to read. A really nice feature called Whispersync gives those who own a Kindle the ability to sync the iPhone Kindle with your already downloaded book collection. The iPhone Kindle software will also sync where you are in a book so regardless of whether you are on the actual Kindle or the iPhone you will not have to go flipping through a book to pick up where you left off. Nice!

Other than Whispersync the iPhone Kindle is a bare bones reader. You can adjust the text size and bookmark pages but you cannot change the font or the color of the "paper". I am sure features like these will be added in future releases, at least I hope.

Now the biggest issue I have with the software is there is no built in ability to search and purchase books from the reader itself. The software recommends that you purchase items using the Amazon store on your PC or MAC. There is a link that takes you to Amazon's website using Safari which I did used to purchase two items but scanning Amazon's large library from Safari is FAR from ideal. Come on Amazon, give us the ability to search and buy directly from the app in the next update.

Overall I would give the IPhone Kindle software a 3 out 5. If you already own a Kindle the Whispersync option is cool but then again, if you are on the road and want to read wouldn't you have your Kindle with you?

Here is cnet's review.

iphone - Amazon Kindle!

Today Amazon released their Kindle software for the iphone! I just downloaded it and will play around with it this morning. As soon as I get a feel for the software I will post a review.

iphone - Mafia Live!

This is pretty cool.

This morning I reached level 51 and unlocked the ability to play Mafia Live! from a PC.

Granted, I usually have my iphone with me all the time but I think this is still a neat feature to have and shows that the developer really cares about their product.

If you want to add me my family code is: 336 782 225

iphone - iMafia

The premise behind iMafia is very similar to Mafia Live! which I reveiwed in an earlier post so I wont go through all the basics of these types of games. iMafia does differ in one big way, you can only purchase mafia members from the Godfather as opposed to inviting other human players from across the world to join you. I have heard a lot of complaints on this idea but I really like it. I just do not have the time to hit every forum looking for new members ID#'s and then punching them into the game. Dom't get me wrong, there is definately something cool about having your reall life friends in your mob but I also really like the fact that iMafia makes you actually play the game and spend the money you earn in order to advance and become a more experienced mobster.

If you read the most current reviews it appears that some players are experiencing issue with the latest update. People are stating that they cannot enter certain buildings in the game and that the game crashes a lot. I have the most updated version and have none of these issues. I am not saying that they do not exist I just wanted to let you know that some people are not having any problems.

iMafia is a FREE app for your iphone!!

iphone - Mafia Live!

Mafia Live! (iphone) -

I recently downloaded Mafia Live! for the iphone and became immediately addicted. I was hesitant at first to purchase this game thinking it wasn't my style of game but it was on sale for .99 cents so I figured what the hell. I have to say that this was the best .99 cents I have spent in a long time!

For those not familiar with the game the basic premise is to build your mafia empire by completing jobs and fighting other rival mobs. There aren't any fancy graphics here, in fact, other than a few pictures of weapons and properties the game is primarily text. That may not sound very exciting but trust me, once you start playing this game it is VERY hard to put down. There is something very addicting about leveling up your character and buying better weapons and bigger properties.

The game pits you against rival mobs and you get to fight them in real time. The other mobs, like yours, are controlled by other real players. It is very gratifying to attack and beat another player and collect tens of thousands of their hard earned cash!

I can't recommend this game enough. If you are unsure if you will like this type of game then check out similar apps like iMob and iMafia which are similar but free.

Note: Mafia Live! is now 2.99.
